How does Magick work? |

|
Considering that Magick can be viewed in a double light (metaphysical vs. psychological), we will attempt to explain the theory behind successful ritual. Suppose you perform a ritual in hope to meet someone new, where a romance could blossom, or a deep connection could be found. After the ritual, you carry about your normal life, and for example, you usually walk to a certain destination, but upon doing this some internal feeling tells you to take a different route. You then come across someone who is in need of some help, perhaps they have dropped their shopping or are experiencing car trouble, but they also happen to be very attractive. You stop to help them and end up chatting for a while. Going about your daily life, you then notice this person in the regular café/bar/recreational place and stop to talk to them, you hit it off and get their number/give your number. A Magickal practitioner would explain that the ritual caused a physical change for you to take a different route for you to meet that person at that time. A psychologist would argue that the ritual caused you to expect to think differently (taking a different route) and pay more attention to the possibility of meeting someone and hitting it off. Whichever viewpoint you accept, it can be observed that the same result is experienced, and even if it is due to a personal or consciousness change, it is as if there has been a change in the physical world. Both viewpoints illustrate that practising Magick can have a profound effect on the outcome of your reality. “Magick is the science and art of causing change (in consciousness) to occur in conformity with will, using means not currently understood by traditional Western Science.” (p.9 Kraig, 2004) Kraig, D.
